We joined our four friends for an amazing cooking class of “Potatoes and Peppers.” Sebastian, our guide, led us on an amazing taste and cultural tour of the city market (which we had visited before on our own, but that was a completely different experience). We tasted fruits and were treated to a variety of fruit juices which we’d never tasted before, while we learned so much about Ecuadorean society and life in Cuenca.
Then we arrived at the restaurant for the cooking class, where Tatiana showed us how to make four different kinds of aji (salsas piquantes), llapingachos, locro, potato tamales, and a potato cake. We were fully engaged in the cooking, and after we’d finished the preparations, we sat down to a sumptuous Ecuadorean meal. It is a high point of our trip so far, and we highly recommend it to anyone who visits Cuenca. Sebastian was so friendly, informative, and helpful—we enjoyed every minute!
All interactions with the company were easy and positive; all arrangements were made flawlessly, and we were well taken care of in all respects.
