Having been living and exploring Ecuador for over four years, I’ve come across some fabulous adventures sure to create a lasting impression. Here are my top five romantic destinations in Ecuador to inspire you for Valentine’s Day.

1. Avenue of the Volcanoes

There’s nothing quite like sitting at the top of some of the most stunning volcanoes in the world and sucking in the view. My highlights are hiking down into Quilotoa Crater and taking in the views of Chimborazo after a high altitude hike. Sipping a hot drink at a Hacienda after a long day and snuggling down with someone you love is also hard to beat. Take a look at our Avenue of the Volcanoes Tours.

2. Learning to Cook

Cooking, eating and laughing are some of the best experiences to share, so why not invite someone special to learn to cook by your side? You’ll start off with a market tour, before learning to cook from a selection of dishes on offer, and then sit down to enjoy the meal. Book today!

3. Venture into the depths of the Amazon Rainforest

Disconnect from everything and venture into the rainforest to create unforgettable memories. The sensation of floating on a canoe through an avenue of enormous and incredibly green trees, filled with monkeys and the sounds of birds, is something unique you can share with your partner. My personal recommendation would be at Napo Wildlife Center. Find out more.

4. Mashpi Lodge Experience

Mashpi Lodge is listed by National Geographic as one of its Unique Lodges of the World. This experience will bring you into the midst of nature in a 1300 hectare private cloud forest and rainforest reserve, while enjoying the highest standard of service. If you’re trying to impress someone, this should be on your to-do list. Read all about it.

5. Hike in Cajas National Park and soak in delicious hot springs

I can’t think of anything better than getting away from everyday life with a hike in the Andes to get your blood pumping. Follow this with a relaxing soak at one of southern Ecuador’s most comfortable hot springs, and you’ve got an ideal date! Find out more.
