Description

This is a fabulous itinerary if you’re looking to get a taste of the Galapagos islands with your family. You’ll get the chance to explore two Islands, Santa Cruz and Isabela, staying in great luxury accommodation provided by the Red Mangrove Lodges on both islands.
 
These are group tours for between 2 and 16 passengers, with one professional naturalist guide per 8 travelers. There is a 50% discount available for kids under 10. Be sure to communicate with your travel specialist to ensure that your kids are fit enough to take part in the activities on offer.

Sample itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival - Santa Cruz Island
Pick-up at Baltra Airport and transfer to Santa Cruz Island to check in to Aventura Lodge. After a relaxing lunch take an excursion to Los Gemelos (The Twins), two enormous collapsed lava chambers which serve as a great introduction to the majestic power of nature and biodiversity of the Santa Cruz highlands. It’s a short and easy hike to the craters and a chance to spot some birds. You’ll then visit a private tortoise reserve to see giant Galapagos tortoises roaming in the wild before visiting a lava tunnel to see lava stalagmites, stalactites, sulfur and mineral-colored walls. Relaxing dinner at Aventura Lodge. Meals included: -/L/D
Day 2 - Santa Cruz and Isabela islands - Kayaking & Snorkeling
Morning water taxi ride to German Beach to kayak around the mangroves towards Franlin Bay, before entering the Love Tunnel, two natural cilffs made of volcanic rock. You’ll then get to do some snorkeling at German Beach before heading to Las Grietas to swim in the cool clear waters. Lunch at Aventura Lodge. Transfer to Red Mangrove Lodge on Isabela Island. Welcome cocktail in from of white sandy beach. Presentation by naturalist guides. Dinner and briefing. Meals included: B/L/D
Day 3 - Isabela Island - Hiking
Early departure to Sierra Negra Volcano, the second biggest active volcano crater in the world, traveling through humid highlands in local truck taxis. Hike about 800 meters to reach the rim of the crater to enjoy incredible views. Hike 6 km along the crater before relaxing under a Jaboncillo tree. You have the option to continue to Volcan Chico. Lunch at Campo Duro, a beautiful organic farm known as a home to wild giant tortoises. Walk amongst fruit trees or nap in a hammock. (Keep in mind that this is quite a tough hike and may not be suitable for smaller children. If so, you can opt for a day of relaxation at the hotel). Return to lodge for swimming, relaxation on the beach or to explore Isabela Island on your own. Meals included: B/L/D
Day 4 - Isabela Island - Snorkeling & Hiking
Departure to Los Tuneles by boat ride. Stop at Roca Union on the way to see masked boobies, blue-footed boobies, marine iguanas, sea lions and even fur seals if you’re lucky. Los Tuneles is made up of a series of lava arches on the water. It can be toured by boat and is a great snorkeling destination where you’ll have the chance to swim with fish, rays, sea turtles, Galapagos penguins and sea lions. Lunch back at the lodge. Afternoon visit to the Galapagos National Park Isabela Breeding Station to see Galapagos tortoises and to take a hike into the Isabela wetlands where you might get to see flamingos and other sea birds. Visit to Playa del Amor (Love Beach), a sandy beach surrounded by mangroves. Evening exploration of Puerto Villamil on your own. Dinner at Lodge. Meals included: B/L/D
Day 5 - Isabela & Santa Cruz islands - Hiking & Snorkeling
Las Tintoreras and Bay Tour. Walk through jagged lava field passing colonies of nesting marine iguanas and sea lions, as well as shallow waters filled with resting white-tipped sharks. The views are incredible: black lava fields, emerald green water, green mangroves and the cloud-capped volcanoes of Isabela Island. After the walk you can snorkel in the shallow bay surrounded by mangroves and try to come up-close-and-personal with white-tipped reef sharks, sea lions, sea turtles and more. Lunch at the lodge. Departure back to Santa Cruz Island and guided tour of Charles Darwin Research Station to learn about their breeding programs. Meals included: B/L/D
Day 6 - Departure
Early departure to Baltra Airport for flight to mainland. Meals included: B/-/-
