Choosing the Right Galapagos Tour
Make sure you understand the options when it comes to booking your once-in-a-lifetime Galapagos tour.
Day 1 - Arrival - Isabela Island
Reception on arrival at Baltra airport. Transfer to Isabela Island. Visit to lagoons to see flamingos. Meals included: -/L/D
Day 2 - Isabela Island
Hiking tour up Chico Volcano northeast of Sierra Negra volcano. There are great views across Isabela and Fernandina islands and visitors can walk on relatively recent lava flows. You’ll then take a pang ride to Las Tintoreras islet, south of Puerto Villamil. This is small bay of calm turquoise water, ideal for spotting sea lions, sea turtles, marine iguanas, rays and more. There is a trail, composed of lava, white sand and black stone. Here you’ll see sea lions, marine iguanas and mangroves. Meals included: B/L/D
Day 3 - Santa Cruz Island
Early morning start to head over to Santa Cruz Island. Here you’ll hike to Tortuga Bay, an incredible white sandy beach filled with marine iguanas, Galapagos crabs and birds. There is a separate cove for swimming with white-tipped reef sharks. You’ll then visit the Charles Darwin Station, a must for any trip to the Galapagos, in order to see the giant tortoises up close and to learn about the Galapagos Islands and their geology. Meals included: B/L/D
Day 4 - Santa Cruz Island
On day four you’ll start with a visit to the Playa de los Alemanes, a small white sandy beach which is ideal for relaxing and swimming. You’ll then continue on to Las Grietas at the far end of the beach, a series of deep volcanic fissures that are ideal for swimming and spotting black-necked stilts, whimbrels, white-cheeked pintail ducks, lava gulls and ruddy turnstones. You’ll then have a free afternoon to enjoy Puerto Ayora or to relax at your hotel. Meals included: B/L/D
Day 5 - Departure
Early morning visit to los gemelos, two enormous holes in the landscape formed by the collapse of a magma chamber. Travel to Baltra Airport and fly back to mainland. Meals included: B/-/-
