Sample itinerary (Majestic)
Day 1 (Monday) - Arrival & San Cristobal Island
Arrival and transfer to yacht. Lunch and welcome briefing. Short hike at the Jacinto Gordillo Galapaguera breeding center, at the northeast of San Cristobal Island, to see giant tortoises, finches, warblers and mockingbirds.
Day 2 (Tuesday) - Santa Fe & South Plaza Islands
Visit to Santa Fe Island to hike two trails to take in the view, visit a beach and a prickly pear cactus forest. In the afternoon visit South Plaza Island with steep cliffs formed by rising lava and covered by opuntia cacti.
Day 3 (Wednesday) - Bartholomew & Santiago Islands
Morning excursion to Bartholomew Island with its famed Pinnacle Rock and extinct volcano. Hike to the summit of the volcano to check out the incredible view. Finish up with snorkeling and the chance to see Galapagos penguins. Afternoon visit to Egas Port on Santiago Island, home to Galapagos hawks, Galapagos lava lizards and sea lions. This is a great spot for snorkeling to see reef sharks, turtles and rays.
Day 4 (Thursday) - Isabela Island
In the morning take a long hike from Tagus Cove on Isabela Island to Lake Darwin and Punta Tortuga to see penguins and flightless cormorants. In the afternoon you’ll get to visit Urbina Bay, which is great for snorkeling, hiking and spotting land iguanas, hawks, coral reef, giant tortoises, turtles, rays and tropical fish.
Day 5 (Friday) - Fernandina & Isabela Islands
At Espinoza Point on Fernandina Island you’ll get to hike and visit a colony of marine iguanas and sea lions en route to a flightless cormorant nesting site. This is one of the most pristine island ecosystems in the world, dominated by the La Cumbre Volcano. In the afternoon you’ll visit Vicente Roca Point on Isabela Island, a large bay with amazing sea life, ideal for snorkeling to spot penguins, blue-footed boobies, terns, Nazca boobies, sea lions, sea turtles, rays and puffer fish.
Day 6 (Saturday) - Santiago Island
Morning visit to Buccaneer Cove, where pirates would anchor and stock up on tortoise meet. The cove is surrounded by steep cliffs that are home to hundreds of seabirds, and you’ll get to enjoy a short walk on the dark red sand beach. In the afternoon you’ll make a wet landing at Sullivan Bay, a coral beach that leads towards a huge lava field. You’ll get to walk, snorkel and swim, while admiring this incredible volcanic landscape.
Day 7 (Sunday) - Santa Cruz Island
Morning hike in the green highlands of Santa Cruz to visit El Chato Reserve to observe giant tortoises in the wild, short-eared owls, Darwin’s finches, yellow warblers, Galapagos rails and paint-billed crakes. You’ll be able to take part in horse riding and bird watching. Afternoon visit to the Charles Darwin Research Station to see giant tortoises bred in captivity.
Day 8 (Monday) - Lobos Island & departure
Morning excursion to Lobos Island (Sea Lion Island) filled with playful sea lions. There are great snorkeling opportunities and the chance to spot blue-footed and Nazca bobbles. Transfer to San Cristobal airport for to catch flight to the mainland.
