Pacific Coast – Andes Train Adventure

Ecuador is famous for the vast variety of it’s landscape. A perfect way to enjoy these contrasts is to take an unforgettable train journey between the Pacific coast and the magnificent Andes. You’ll have the chance to enjoy the hidden treasures along the way including Bucay, Huigra, Siabambe and Alausí, at the edge of the famed Devil’s Nose.

Description

On this tour you can choose to travel from the coast to the Andes, or viceversa. You can even do a return trip if you start in Durán, travel up to Alausí, stay the night and return to the coast the next day. Whatever you decide, you’ll be traveling from an altitude of 80 meters above sea level to 2340 meters above sea level, and will experience drastic differences in temperature, of approximately 15 – 34 C.

Train travel in Ecuador is a unique experience. After a multi-million dollar project ($280 million to be precise) to restore Ecuador’s historic railway tracks and stations, Ecuador’s rail network reopened in 2013 as a luxury steam train experience for travelers. The experience has been a World Travel Award winner in 2014 and 2015, and is nominated for the award in 2016. The train has a panoramic observation lounge with air conditioning, a terrace and a bar.
