Totorillas Countryside Experience

This two-day countryside experience at Hacienda Totorillas, in the mountains of Tarqui, will give you the chance to spend a couple of days exploring the area on horseback and experiencing daily life on an Ecuadorian rural hacienda. We particularly recommend this experience during the full moon, when you would be able to enjoy a Full Moon Horse Riding Adventure.

Description

Only half an hour’s drive from Cuenca, Hacienda Totorillas is a charming private farm built within a gorgeous valley in the mountains of Tarqui. It is an ideal base camp to enjoy southern Andean landscapes including cloud forests, indigenous agricultural grounds, cattle-raising farms and rugged topography. The area is also crossed by the ancient Inca trail.

Our Hacienda Totorillas countryside experience gives you the chance to do as much or as little horse riding as you wish, within these rural and natural surroundings, following trails used by local indigenous people. All horses used on these tours are gentle and professionally-trained, which means that minimal experience is required. You will also be invited to get involved in daily farming activities (agricultural work, animal raising and dairy), can take walks or simply kick back to breath the fresh air.

This tour can be extended to 3 or 4 days, with daily rides to different destinations and nights spent at the hacienda.
